Adults and children alike will find something special about The Villa, whether it be the large yard for outdoor play or getting cozy by the fireplace on those chilly summer nights. Water access is available at Grimes Cove Beach, less than 2 miles away in Ocean Point. Grimes Cove Beach also has a boat ramp available for launching small watercraft. The Ocean Point Colony, as it exists today with many of its original 19th century cottages, remains primarily a residential community. Many of the cottages have been with these families for generations. Walking, jogging and biking along the shore are memorable experiences where the spruce meets the sea; for both visitors and year-round locals. THE HOUSE: Original wide-pine floors throughout the house offset the birch wood walls perfectly. Floor to ceiling windows allow light and colors to infuse the rooms of this 115 year old cottage. Enter through the galley-style kitchen on the main floor with all modern amenities, including a dishwasher. The butcher block table is a newer addition and adds even more work space. There is a washer and dryer in the utility room off of the kitchen. The open dining area has seating for at least 8 and includes a small sitting area at the large bay window. Play a game of chess or simply gaze out at the water beyond the road. An office room is off the dining room with a large desk and comfy seating for enjoying a movie or cable on the flat screen TV. Pass through the office to get to the 3/4 bathroom with shower. Beyond the dining room is a sitting room with more seating and gas fireplace. A smaller TV with DVD player is in this room as well. Round the corner and head up the staircase to the second floor. Upstairs are five charming bedrooms with ocean views. Floor to ceiling windows make waking up a special part of each day. Three of the bedrooms have Queen Beds, one has a Double Bed and the last bedroom has two Single beds. Two (2) 3/4 bathrooms with showers complete the second floor. East Boothbay is an area that stretches from Boothbay Harbor out to Ocean Point. There are several little communities that are part of East Boothbay. Rich in boat building history, East Boothbay in renowned the world over for the ship yards of the region. Guests have access to the "Casino" (the local community center dating back to 1905) which offers daily and weekly activities. Their schedule is often posted on their website or on the bulletin board outside the Casino. Please note there is a fee to use the tennis courts. A wonderful playground by the community center and a community field are great spots to take the kids. Restaurants include Lobsterman's Wharf, Ocean Point Inn and East Boothbay General Store. A full service Marina is located behind the Post Office. There are ample opportunities for biking, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, charters and guided cruises, spas, golf, mini-golf, bowling, museums, antiquing, hiking and walking trails in the Boothbay Region. We have the Maine State Aquarium, the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and the Boothbay Region Land Trust with its 30+ miles of pet friendly trails in protected areas.
