This traditional summer camp invites you to come and discover and explore the natural wonders of Maine. This two bedroom, one bathroom camp is both family and pet-friendly. From here you can enjoy the refreshing waters of Damariscotta Lake by canoe or kayak, going fishing and having a swim...remember to bring your camera for photo ops! Whether you are seeking peace and quiet or a little adventure on your vacation, at Baxter, you can do it all. The owners have provided a paddle boat and canoe for guests to launch from the new dock! THE HOUSE: Built over time by the family and their friends, beginning in the 1960s, this lakefront cottage/camp certainly has a cozy feel and an easy pathway to the water's edge. On the main level, an open deck with umbrella table and seating for six faces the lake with easterly views, the perfect spot for morning coffee or evening cocktails at the umbrella table. Enter through the full kitchen with dining area that seats four. Continue on through into the living room with ample comfy seating and water views. The bonus room next to the master bedroom is a great spot for the kids to play games, read and chill out. The master bedroom with one Double bed and a 3/4 bathroom with washer & dryer complete the first floor. The second level is essentially a "sleeping loft" with two Twin beds on one side and one Double bed on the other. A fire pit in the yard for the entire family to gather around for s'mores and ghost stories. Cook your favorite BBQ on the gas grill and dine al fresco. What makes this camp so special is its casual relaxed atmosphere inside and out. NOTE: Guests are advised to bring drinking water. This is a place to truly unplug and unwind- no internet and no cable television. Cell phone service is good here and you can access the internet through your cell phone using it as a Hot Spot. PETS PERMITTED? Yes, pets are allowed. LINENS & TOWELS INCLUDED? No, linens and towels are not provided for your stay, however, they can be rented through us for $45 per bedroom, or you may bring your own. BEDROOMS: (1) Double on the main level, (1) Double, and (2) Twins on the second level BATHROOMS: (1) 3/4 bathroom with shower, sink & toilet on the main level The largest lake in Lincoln County (over 4,000 acres!) Damariscotta Lake has excellent fishing, offers terrific kayaking and canoeing and is the home to many bird species including heron, loons, ducks and more. Damariscotta Lake State Park is not far from the cottage, with picnic tables, a nice sandy beach, and a grilling area. Known for its colonial architecture and historical significance, Damariscotta is also well known for its Shell Middens dating back some 2500 years. Be sure to walk through at least one. The Pemaquid Peninsula encompasses many little towns and villages, each with its own personality and offerings for you to discover. At the end of the peninsula, there is a beach, a lighthouse, and a park. The Pemaquid WaterShed has miles of trails and acres of preserves to explore. Historical grave sites, the Rachel Carson Preserve, art galleries, restaurants, whale & puffin watches and trips to Monhegan Island are all adventures awaiting you! There is so much history to explore.
